Short Biography

I was born and raised in London, England. I graduated with a 1st Class BEng Honours Degree in Electronic Engineering from Middlesex University, London, in 1998. While a research scientist with the Malvern Signal Processing Group at QinetiQ, Malvern, U.K., I obtained a Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Southampton, Southampton, U.K., in 2006. I am currently an Associate Professor at the European University of Lefke, Lefke, Cyprus.

I joined DERA (the Defence, Evaluation and Research Agency) in 1998, working initially on airborne SHF/EHF SATCOM systems. From 2000 to 2007, I was a Research Scientist with the Advanced Signal and Image Processing group at QinetiQ, Malvern, working on mainly defence related projects: algorithm design for interference rejection, detection/localisation of, e.g., sonar, radar, biomedical and seismic data signals. My research contributions have mainly been in adaptive signal processing, blind signal separation and algorithm development for polynomial matrix computations.

I am a UK Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET), a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (SMIEEE). I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Malvern Signal Processing Team, led by Prof J G McWhirter, which received the coveted EURASIP Group Technical Achievement Award in 2003. I was also quite lucky to gain the I.E.E. Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement in 1998.
